Our Computerized Life - - 私達の電算化した生活

This past summer I had been trying to find someone to purchase my extra ticket for the Dream Theater concert. I have communicated with many of my friends, and had been contacted several times by some of them. However, with the exception of one whom I had asked in person, I did not actually speak with any of them.

Social Networking Sights, E-mail, test messages, blog and diary posts and comments, and instant messaging...These are all very effective ways of communication. I was able to, contact people in the Western, Northern, and Eastern U.S. and also someone residing outside the country with very little effort. Even in the less than thirty years of my life, it is amazing how efficient communication has become. It has gone from post, land-line telephone, and knocking on someone's front door to what is listed previously and more. Although as I enjoy the convince of sending someone an e-mail or instant message, I wonder if it is worth the price of not being able to hear the emotion in the other person's voice or seeing the expressions of their face.

I wonder if our computerized life has brought us closer together. I think the answer is a little mixed. I think being able to call someone on their cell phone is something that has brought us closer together; however, you are able to hear the other person's voice in that example. In the cases where you are only reading text messages or e-mail, I think it has separated us from one another.

I think we should make our human relationships a little more personal when possible.


今年の夏ドリム・シエタのライブの余分な切符を一枚買える人を探していた。私の友達の中で多くの人々と連絡できて、その人々の中で数人に連絡されましたが、別な一人の以外に本当にその人々と話さなかった。

社会的なネットワークのサイト（SNS)、メール、ブログの貼り出しとコメント、インスタントメッセージとは、なかなか効果的な通ずり方でした。小さいな労力で西部と北部と東部のアメリカにも外国にも住んでいる友達に連絡できた。私の命の三十年以下の時間でも通信が効率的になるのは驚くべきと思う。便と電話と誰かのドアをノックから前に表にしたこと以上になりました。インスタントメッセージとかメールを使う便利をエンジョイしながらも、誰かの声色と情感を聴けないか目色を見えないだけの価値があるかな。

私達が電算化した生活に親しくなられさせたのを考え込む。その答えはちょっと混じりだと思います。誰かの携帯に電話を掛けるのは親しくなさせたことと思いますが、その例では相手の声を聴けるわけです。テキストかメールだけを読むわけでは人中が割いたことだと思います。

できられる時に私達は人間関係をもうちょっと直接になさせるようにするべきだとお思いします。
